It doesn't look too good in the (lack of) context given. In other contexts, this form of answer is usually in response to a negatively formed question. "You don't like pizza, do you?" - "I do like pizza!".

See waflob's response and as for your example: (Q) "You don't come to class very often, do you?" (A) "I do come" OR more frequently used: "Yes, I do". Use of the auxiliary "do/does" can be used as in your post for emphasis.
