Default gonna be followed by going to be

"I'm gonna do this. I'm going to run for the United State Senate, and the reason is straightforward."

I need your advice on why the speaker would use first "gonna be" and then "going to be"?

Is he trying to convey a certain connotation?

Your guess is as good as mine. Perhaps he is trying to show that he is "one of us," that is, an ordinary guy.

President Obama uses "gonna" all the time. I like it.

He's not been a "will only" guy. He also throws in "going to".

Possibly- he could be moving towards a more declaratory tone in the second sentence.
