hello,
A few minutes ago I faced this sentence in my lesson book.
'The beginning of the story where the characters and the setting is revealed.'
Can we use 'where' like that?It is written that we can only use 'where' with a name of a place.
The city where we live is beautiful...It is ok.But the first one.
The beganing doesn't show a name of a place and I could't understand why 'where' is used at this sentence?

The topic is about an 'essay'. For this reason It may be thought as place. Is that right?
The writing where there are a few rules to write a good essay is important for a student.
If it is correct too, It means that I have understood this topic.![]()
Is there anyone who will answer?Please..
Do you mean something like "It's important for a student to find a book chapter where there are some rules about how to write a good essay"?
If so, then it would be understandable but not very natural. We would say something like "A book containing a few rules on how to write a good essay is important for a student."
