Mixed Conditional

Dear teachers,

I would like to know if the following mixed conditional is correct or not. Thank you very much for your advice.


"Were it not your outstanding leadership and close cooperation of the team, the completion of the unenviable assignment would not have been possible, much less it would have received the accolates from the colleagues and the general public."

"Were it not for your outstanding leadership of, and close cooperation with, the team, the completion of the unenviable assignment would not have been possible,; much less it would it have received the accolatdes that it did from the colleagues and the general public.

That is possible, though I prefer to start with 'had it not been for...'

I do not like the 'much less would it ...' . More natural for me would be 'and it certainly would not have received...'.

However, I would like to ask one more question: As "much less" is a conjunction, why couldn't I use a comma instead of a semi-colon before it? Thanks for your further help in this again.

I think 'much less is an adverbial rather than a conjunction, and a comma is not strong enough - in my opinion.
