    Default help with combined clauses

    Hello,

I am trying break the following quote up into it's separate clauses... did I do it right?

“Reading aloud to a child allows them to hear new words, || and different types of language than what is heard in everyday speech, || and so develops the part of their brain that deals with language.”

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum, afireinside

    You're not being ignored.

I for one am trying to figure out just what it is you are trying to do and why.

This will bump it up to the top for others to think about.

    Hi

According to your profile your native language is English which is why I am surprised to be saying the following:

Please see my amendments to your post above (in red).

I'm afraid I can't help with your actual question either.

    Is this what you want?

Reading aloud to a child allows them to hear new words, Coordinate main clause
and(it allows them to hear) different types of language Coordinate main clause
than what is heard in everyday speech, Adverb clause of comparison
and so (it) develops the part of their brain Coordinate main clause
that deals with language. Adjective clause/

It's over fifty years since I last did that, So I do not guarantee that it's correct.
