    Default 18 = octocaedecagon

    Hey!
What could I call a hole that is shaped like an octocaedecagon (a figure that has 18 sides) in a less sofisticated way?
    Can I say 18-facet hole/opening?

    Thanks

    It's an 18-sided hole.

I don't think the word "octadecagon" is sophisticated but I think it would sound pompous if you used it in normal everyday speech. Most people wouldn't know how many sides it had so if you said "18-sided" no-one would be confused.

I think Jack8rkin's spelling is probably attested too; this would fit the Gk 18: όκτоκαιδεκα .

I was just thinking that the middle section would be more likely to translate to "kai" than "cae".

I'm sure there are probably multiple acceptable possibilities because Greek doesn't use the same alphabet, there won't be just one single written translation.
