    Default margin

Please explain the following in red more easily. And what does the "margin" mean in the context, "a bound or limit"?

I'm sure you already know what your optimum sleep margins are---when it's best for you to go to bed, when to get up---yet you probably fight the margins at both ends, all the time. Believe me, I did that for a long time. I'm a natural night owl...

Is this saying "you probably have difficulty keeping your optimum time to go to bed and the optimum time to get up"?

    Thank you.

    Sort of ....

"Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise."

People know that they should go to bed punctually and get up early, but always manage to stay up later than they should and get up later (probably as a consequence of going to bed too late).
