    Default what's the word?

    Dear all,
Can anyone please give me the word for a place or office that issues birth certificates for people who are just born or any organization in charge of recording that kind of information?

    Birth Certificates

In Pennsylvania, you get a copy of your birth certificate from the Division of Vital Records of the state Department of Health.

When you are born, the hospital sees to getting the paperwork filed with the state.

    NOT A TEACHER

    (1) The United States of America is a very large country with 50 states. Sometimes it

is difficult for people in other countries to understand that the names of governmental

offices are different from state to state.

    (2) You have probably heard of the state of California. It has the most people of any

other state. Some people feel that it is the most important state in this country. It

has sections called "counties." Los Angeles County is one of those counties. About

10,000,000 people live in Los Angeles County. There is an office called Registrar-

Recorder County Clerk. Here are some of that office's duties:

absentee voting (you can vote at home).

    birth records.

    death records.

    marriage records.

    real estate documents.

5jj is spot on - as was to be expected.

Unfortunately the majority of our compatriots mistakenly call it the Registry Office, so no-one should be surprised to hear this incorrect appellation.
