hi,
I have a question about the usage of 'of' in the following sentence. Would it make any difference if 'in' is used in place of 'of'?
I am inspector (British word for a high ranking police officer) Allen of the crime prevention department of or in the Royal Malaysian Police.
thanks...
Both prepositions are possible, though I think 'of' is far more likely to be used.
He is an inspector, but he is Inspector Allen (capital 'I'). We'd also probably capitalise the initial letters of Crime Prevention Depatrtement.
Note that the rank of inspector is not a particularly high one: Police ranks of the United Kingdom - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
