Celtic looked in no real danger of losing their lead until in the 62nd minute Medhi Benatia had the ball in the net from Cristian Battochio's chipped free-kick 30 yards but amid more confusion referee Bulent Yildirim consulted his lineman and ruled that Benatia was offside.

I have several questions concerning the above paragraph.

1.
Does the "look in" means "to tend, as in bearing or significance"?

2.
Does the "chipped" means "pieces, broken" or "move very fast"?

3.
Is the chipped sentence grammatically correct? Shouldn't it be "chipped 30-yards free kick"?

"Looked" = "appeared to be"

2.
Does the "chipped" means "pieces, broken" or "move very fast"?
"To chip" in football means to kick the ball with the ends of your toes, usually making the ball go quite high in the air.

3.
Is the chipped sentence grammatically correct? Shouldn't it be "chipped 30-yards free kick"?
I agree with you, except we would say "30-yard" free kick. Either that, or there's a word missing before "30 yards" in the original.
