I wouldn't say there is a "better" one. But I like "felt" because it seems more personal for me in that context, and because attraction is a feeling.

In English, there is nothing called better or not better if you want to judge on a certain gramatical point, instead, you can use the term acceptable or unacceptable.
For me, I prefer to use felt in your example because it sounds more personal and expresses more attraction or emotion than the verb were. But both of these verbs are correct.
