Why A, why not C-D?

NOT A TEACHER *****
(1) I "vote" for A, C, and D:
Mr. Kurtz sees the meaninglessness of Asian standards, and so/thus/therefore
[he] changes his entire perception and behavior.
(2) Maybe (maybe) "A" (as your teacher told you) is preferable because technically
speaking, some strict teachers feel that "thus" and "therefore" need special
punctuation. Maybe something like:
...of the time; thus, he changes ...
...of the time; therefore, he changes ...
(Teachers nowadays accept "so" as a coordinating conjunction that needs only a
comma: ...of the time, so he changes ...)
