Default I like fantasy on the whole.

    Hello,

These are comments by one of my students about the article 'Are you ready for Avatar theme parks?' published in AP:

I like "Avatar", because it is a really cool movie. It is very unusual, and I like fantasy on the whole. To my mind, building a theme park, based on the movie is a brilliant idea, as many people, i think, would like to be a part of Pandora. As for me, i would. It is great that 2 more films are to be produced. It will be very interesting for me to watch them.

I am not sure about the word 'fantasy'. I do not like 'science fiction' either.
Which word is the best choice then?

Thank you for the time and help.

Avatar fits perfectly into the "fantasy" genre of film for me. It could probably be described as a "fantasy adventure film".

It's definitely science fiction in my opinion! If I remember correctly, it features non-existent technology and non-existent but plausible forms of life. It reminded me of the Ender's Game series. Doesn't fantasy begin where plausibility ends?

The well-respected film website, IMDB, categorises it as action/adventure/fantasy. I can see why science fiction might be some people's choice now that I've read the synopsis, as it mentions a character going to a moon. I have to admit that the synopsis reads remarkably like the blurb on the back of a lot of sci-fi books, but what I have seen of the film (trailers only) I can only describe as fantasy.
