To be primed for something means to be prepared for it or to be ready for it.
One can frequently hear people in the US saying, "He was primed and ready to go!" Meaning he's been eagerly waiting and anticipating going to that particular place.
In your example, the people were primed for another big hit because they liked Moore's previous movies. They were ready to see another one!
