Im a new teacher trainee and need great help on how the following language points underlined can be taught to students of a foreign language. i.e how do i analyse the language?. How can i convey the meaning in the context? e.g using pictures, text or visuals? (How can that be presented?) 1. He's been working there for ten years. 2. She needn't have got to the airport so early. 3. I wish i didn't live in London. 4. Can you put me up for the night? 5. Ann: So shall we eat out tonight? Tom: No idea. It's up to you. Thankyou.

Why don't your start by giving your ideas? As a teacher trainee, you'll know the importance of not spoonfeeding students.

ok, well ive come up with the following to convey meaning in those sentences. Im struggling with the last three! Please help me out! Ive only just started as a trainee and have No experience with teaching of any kind! 1. He's been working for ten years. Would be taught at Intermediate level. Its a Past perfrect Continous, and to show meaning i would show students a timeline with an arrow going across and write 10yrs under it to say that he has been working. Follow up with concept questions. 2. She needn't have got to the airport so early. i think it can be taught at Intermediate level(correct me if im worng). Using pictures. id show a woman arriving at the airport. a clock displaying the time at 11am. 2nd picture would show her looking at her ticket that shows departure time at 6pm. The flight departure time indicates that shes early. 3rd picture can show her sitting, bored, with a bubble thinking, 'i needn't have hurried'. and then Concept q's. What do you think?
