I've learned that two actions taking place at the same time use present or past progressive, for example:
Susan is eating while John is doing the dishes.
Susan was eating while John was doing the dishes.
I've also learned that two actions with the second following the first use single present or past, for example:
Susan ate and then John did the dishes.
In addition, I've learned that actions that happen repeatedly or in a frequent pattern use simple past or present.
Then how should we express when we do something in a set pattern simutaneously? For example:
a) Every evening I enjoy dinner while watching TV.
b) Every evening I'm enjoying dinner while watching TV.
c) Every evening I enjoy dinner while I watch TV.
d) Every evening I'm enjoying dinner while I watch TV.
Can anybody help? Uptil now, I thought that the first rule mentioned above always applied - now I'm in doubt...
Kind regards
Buller
