Why do adjectives from famous people appear in different forms?
Kafkaesque
Freudian
Maoist
Hitlerite
Why do the suffixes differ? Is there a rule?

Re: Kafkaesque but Freudian? It is all based on what sounds the best or what form first was used.
(I don't think I've ever heard of "Hitlerite." If I was asked to use "Hitler" as an adjective, I would probably use "Hitlerian.")
