    Default There's (are) no boat(s)

    1. We want to go to the island, but there's no boat to take us.
    2. We want to go to the island, but there are no boats to take us.

    (1) May I just add to the moderator's excellent answer.

We want to go to the island, but there is no boat to take us. = Excellent English.

We want to go to the island, but there's no boat to .... = Very good conversational English.

We want to go to the island, but there are no boats to .... = Excellent.

We want to go to the island, but there's no boats to .... = Acceptable for conversation.

*** NEVER: We want to go to the island, but there is no boats to ....
