1. "The plane crashed to the ground."
2. "The plane crashed into the ground."
3. "The plane crashed to the building."
4. "The plane crashed into the building."
Would the use of "to" and "into" in these sentences be objectionable to some people?
Native speakers would not say #3, and they would be far more likely to say #2 than #1, in my opinion.

Sorry, I carelessly typed in the wrong number in my response. I have now corrected it.
Even so, . I said that "Native speakers would not say #3, and they would be far more likely to say #3 (meant #2) than #1, in my opinion." (My emphasis added) I did not say that #1was wrong.
It's a good thing I didn't. COCA shows that in fact 'to the ground' is far more commonly used than 'into the ground'.
