    Default asking question about a course

    Hi everyone
    I'm about to ask a professor at a department for some more information about a graduate program which is offered by their university and since it is my first time contacting him i want to leave a good impression on him both My personality and My English ability but I'm stuck
    here's a draft i prepared
    i want it to be simple and short
    (Email)


    Dear Professor xxxxx
    I am writing to request more information about your xxxxx course.
    I am really interested in this subject and I am thinking of applying to your graduate program but I need to know what the requisites for this program are and what are the sources that one must pass to successfully finishes this program.

    NOT A TEACHER


    (1) You are very wise in wanting to keep it short and simple.

    (2) Americans prefer notes that "get to the point."

    (3) First, IMHO, it is a waste of words to write "I am writing ...."

    (4) So maybe something "to the point" such as:

    Dear Professor Smith:

    I am very interested in journalism and thinking of enrolling in your

    graduate program. May I please know the course requirements and the

    criteria necessary for successfully finishing the course.

    the thing is that i want to know more about the program
    there are some information available on their website, but i need to know more about it
    information about the source books

    what books are in the programs that i must pass and what books i must have passed during my undergraduate

    that's why I'm not sure about (criteria necessary for successfully finishing the course)

    (1) Perhaps you could mention those specifics in parentheses. Something like:

    May I please know the course requirements (such as what undergraduate

    courses must I have already passed) and the criteria (such as the required

    textbooks) necessary for successfully completing the course.
