    Default not only but also

    Are these all okay?

    A. The word "sound" does not only mean "something you hear" but also "good condition," depending on the context.
    B. The word "sound" means not only "something you hear" but also "good condition," depending on the context.
    C. The word "sound" does mean not only "something you hear" but also "good condition," depending on the context.

B is the correct one because what followed "not only" and "but also" is parallel.
A is often said. No one would notice that it's not parallel.
    C is not okay.

I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
