Knowledge comes not from books but from practical experience "There is a saying that 'Knowledge is of no value unless you put it into practice'. It is known that both books and practical experience play important roles in an individual’s life. But being just bookish will definitely not help one succeed. Books teach one the basics. It is the practical experience that moulds one into a person with perfection.

A paradigm for this statement would be the story of successful businessmen, who are at the pinnacle of their business arena. Not all of them are graduates. It was neither the books, that paved the way for their success nor their fortuity, that made them rise to the top . Had it not been for the experience, gained from the hurdles they had faced in their path to glory, they would never have come all this way. One’s business acumen is largely due to one's practical experience.

It is true however, that certain subjects require book learning. Consider the subject, history for instance, there is no way for one to have practical experience. It is the books that imbue one with the knowledge about what had happened in the past. If not for the books, everyone in this world would have remained oblivious to the legends and their legendary actions of the past.

Books take one to a world of fantasy, where one could only imagine the way the things work as specified. One needs practical experience to bring one back to reality. There should be a correlation between the theoretical knowledge exposed by the books and the practical knowledge gained through experience. Description of vernier calipers given by a physics book could help one identify it. For one to have a complete knowledge of its working, one has to put one's hands on it.

So, in general, the knowledge, that books impart to us, helps us to get hold of the subject. But it is the practical experience that enlightens us and makes us experts."
