    Default result clause with "so"

    Is
    "so powerful an effect has the drug, that the doctors hardly ever prescribes it"
    an awkward or even incorrect alternative to
    "so powerful is the effect of the drug, that..."

    Both versions are acceptable.

    Note: '. . .doctors hardly ever prescribess it.'

    A little formal perhaps, old-fashioned even, but not incorrect. A halfway form might be: "so powerful an effect does the drug have ...".
