Shall I...? Dear teachers,
(Nick is Mrs Bill's son)
Nick : Shall I do the shopping today, Mum?
Mrs Bill : Yes, please.
Would you please tell me if it is appropriate to interpret the question 'Shall I do the shopping today?' as 'Is it all right if I do the shopping today?'? Or could you please tell me the best way to interpret it?

Teacher Re: Shall I...? The most likely interpretation is that Nick is asking his mother if he she would like him to do the shopping, in my opinion.
