Hi,
I sent an email to our US client last time and forgot to change the date format to dd-mm-yyyy or mm-dd-yyyy (it was a table containing several dates that needs to be noticed). Instead, I habitully used the Chinese format which is yyyy-mm-dd (it was the only place that I forgot to change to English).
My question is that is it acceptable to use the yyyy-mm-dd format in writing English business emails (e.g 2011-10-15), if this format may make our clients feel strange, I would take notice next time.
Thank you!
Having worked for many years in multinational companies on multinational contracts, I would always write dates as 3rd ( or 3) Mar 2011 etc to avoid any confusion over dates such as 2011-10-03, 3/10/11, or 10/3/11 between 10th March and 3rd October, .
Hope this helps

Thank you very much!
