Would you please tell me some more about "distinctions" in the following context?

The capability is in how the knowledge is put to use, and this how is dependent upon the distinctions he makes around the meeting activity. What is he noticing and paying attention to? What is the range of his behaviour when responding?
The distinctions he makes will generate his behaviour---what he says and does in response to each interaction. Does he continue listening and watching, or begin talking? Which words does he choose when it's his turn to speak?....
The end result of all these influences will manifest in the distinctions he will make. Coarse distinctions and fuzzy goals result from low task value, limiting beliefs... Fine distinctions and clear goals result from high task value...

Does this refer to "some special or unique characteristics (words or gestures or behaviours) he shows during the meeting"?
