Dear teachers,
She knows things sitting inside my head same as if I was turned inside out.
The word “same” is a mistake. Is that right?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you in advance.
Jiang
Colloquial rather than a mistake as such. It is short for 'the same as if...', i.e. in the same way...
Hi philo2009,
Thank you very much for your help.
Do you mean it should be "the way I thought of it"? I get confused because " in the way " suggests method while "the same " I think suggests contents. Is that right?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Have a nice weekend.
Jiang
Perhaps if I explain exactly what it means, it will become clearer to you:
She knows things sitting inside my head in the same way as she would know things sitting inside my head if I was turned inside out.
You could have just as if.
Dear Tdol,
Thank you for your suggestion.
I get confused. I can say "somebody does something just as somebody else does someting". Here as is a conjuction. Is "somebody does something just as if somebody does something" a pattern?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you in advance.
