    Is there a difference when after 'after' is used the present perfect or the ing form?

    e.g. After breaking up, we will go on our own ways.
    After we have broken up, we will go on our own ways.

    No, there is no difference between the two :).

    I think the phrase you're looking for is 'go our own separate ways' though.

    Less common, but acceptable, is "go on our own ways'
