Reading / Hearing Audiobooks

What do you think about reading a book and hearing along the audiobook version?

Good idea? Bad idea? Have you tried it?

As long as the audio version is unabridged, I have heard that it has helped many to understand better.
Yet, one complaint I have heard on several occasions is that because we read much faster than we hear, learners get frustrated.
I would try it out once, at least.
