Dear
I am little bit confuse to ask someone a question. I think here I explain it clearly.
My friend stay in no. 6 foreign students dorm and I live in no. 3 students dorm. At 2 p.m. he went to shopping mall and at 3 p.m. he came to my dorm to meet with me. But how can I ask him?
Because Where are you from? means which country you born?
But this one different case so I am confuse to throw question to know his leaving place before come to my room.
