1. This situation is worse than the one we were before. We’ve jumped into deep water

2. The company is in big financial trouble but you would never be able to guess it, the director is picking up the pieces

Bhaisahab 's "This situation is worse than the one we were in before. We’ve jumped out of the frying pan into the fire" is an excellent suggestion.

But, if you want to stay with the "water" concept, you could also say: This situation is worse than the one we were in before. Now, we're really in deep water.
