park debut
KOEN-DEBYUU
Literally 'park debut'. In our country, we hear
this word very often. 'Mama's first visit to
the park with her child'
This seems to be a hard job for a young mama,
because this is the first time for the mama
to go there, where there might be mean mamas
that have already established a strong foothold there.
How to get along with those adults and how to
have her own child get along well with other
children, that is the question.
Maybe, this is a phenomenon peculiar to this
land. But could you think of a short English
word for this?
Thank you.

I don't know if there is such a word in English, but there is none of the kind in French.
I find your questions very interesting, they are very good examples of how necessary it is to know the culture of the target language if you want to translate something.
Is "debyuu" the adaptation of "debut" in Japanese?
"KOEN-DEBYUU" is a little bit like "le bal des débutantes", except that these ladies push prams instead of dancing

Thank you, Alain.
Yes, 'debyu(u)' is our borrowed word, borrowed
from French, or rather from French through English perhaps.
Oh, by the way, how do you translate "le bal des debutantes"
into English? French is totally French to me. LOL

I was not sure, but I checked on Google, and here the first page I found:

And Japanese is all Greek to me, even if I know what a go-ban is (I used to play with friends in the eighties, I prefer it to chess), I'm an amateur bonsai grower, and a fan of Kurosawa and Miyazaki (I have never been able to watch "the fireflies tomb" till the end- not sure at all of the title in English- believe it or not, I just can't help crying like a baby...)
I'll have to save money so I can visit Japan when I'm retired...

Oh, you know much more about things Japanese than me. Let me know when you come to Japan. See you. Thanks for the beautiful site.
