Hi,
Can you ex plane to me this lesson. i can,t understand it.What is the ''present perfect tense, past perfect tense and future perfect tense''
thank you.
Welcome to Using English.
This is a big question. How much of this topic do you understand already?
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
The answer to these questions are easily found on the web. Simply enter each phrase into the search box of a search engine and press enter.
If you are interested in learning grammar (and Well done - Good idea!) you are going to need at least 1) a grammar book or 2) an ability to search the web.
I'd suggest acquiring both.
[QUOTE=shabysaf;817011]Hi,
NOT A TEACHER
(1) The teachers have given you excellent advice.
(2) I am also a learner, so I understand your confusion.
(3) I hope that the following examples are correct:
(a) Present perfect: I have just read your interesting post.
Present perfect progressive (continuous) : I have been thinking about your post for the last 5 minutes (I am still thinking about it).
(b) Past perfect: I had already eaten dinner before Mona came to my home. (I finished my dinner at 6:15 p.m. Mona came to my home at 6:30 p.m.)
Past perfect progressive: I had been eating for 10 minutes when Mona came to my house. (I started to eat at 6:05 p.m. At 6:15 p.m., I heard a knock on my door. So I stopped eating and answered the door. Mona came in, and I invited her to join me for dinner.)
(c) Future perfect: By December of this year ( = When December, 2011, arrives), I will have been a member of usingenglish.com for two years. I started in December, 2009.)
Future perfect progressive: By December of this year (December is still not here yet), I will have been reading many interesting posts, such as yours, for two years.
thanks a lot parser
