Dear teachers!
Please explain this.
I m not familiar .............. her, but her face seems familiar ........... me.
a. with / in
b. with / to c. to / with
d. to / to Some people chose B and some others, including me, chose D. According to OALD familiar (adj) 1. well known to you; often seen or heard and therefore easy to recognize familiar to somebody 2 familiar with something: knowing something very well 3 familiar (with somebody) (of a person's behaviour) :very informal, sometimes in a way that is unpleasant
So which is correct ? Best regards! The correct answer has to make sense in both cases in your sentence. B works in both cases, D does not. To test this, put "to" in the first case and reason out the meaning. Now put "to" in the second case and reason out the meaning. Now, read the entire sentence using "to" and decide if the sentence makes sense.
