I wonder why the word 'neurosurgery' is not used in plural.

Eg.,A few important neurosurgeries were performed at this hospital.

Perhaps my eyes deceive me, but I believe you just used the plural of "neurosurgery" correctly in that example.

My dictionary says it's wrong, but I don't see why?

The FrazeIt site shows only two examples of neurosurgeries, so it's very rarely used.

However, the sources seem impeccable, so it's clearly acceptable to the medical profession.
