Pronunciation depends on whether its used as a verb or an adjective. Don't know which is more common.

    NOT A TEACHER

    (1) According to The Columbia Guide to Standard American English (1993) by Mr. Kenneth G. Wilson:

The pronunciation "blest" predominates in sentences such as:

He was blessed with excellent coordination.

I will be blessed if I know. [A nice way to say "I will be d_ _ _ ed if ..."

In other words, especially after a linking verb, I think.

The pronunciation "BLES-id" predominates in sentences such as:

The blessed St. Mary will protect us.

The blessed lawnmover won't start. [A nice way to say the "d _ _ _ ed" lawnmower ...."]

In other words, especially when it precedes the noun, I think.
