Hi, I want to ask if the red colored message make sense to write in e-mail or not.

I never thought kids would come to apartment for a Halloween. I knew they'd come to a house. I gave them 7up instead. Thank god I didn't get *tricked*. Sorry kids.

It means as it's written. I didn't get ready for treats for kids so I gave them 7up instead.
I wrote those message by using dictionary so it might be expressed in literary style for English-speaking people. I want express this in more colloquial style.
