Default make as little a time as to

Her neglectful parents couldn't even make as little a time as to sit down and talk about their daughter's problem.

    Hi.

I want to know if the sentence above is grammatically correct, especially with regard to the underlined phrase. Does it sound OK to natives?
Do I need to add time after "as" to make it work or is it OK as it is?

    Thanks for the help.
