There is more a difference of register than a difference in meaning. I would say 'I like spending time in the forum because meanings interest me'. I might write 'As I am interested in semantics, I enjoy frequenting the forum'. The meanings are near enough identical (the causality - interest => time spent - is the same , but the degree of formality is different.
