Issue Vs Institute a company policy?
Hi everyone,
Can someone help me with the difference between:
1. our company has issued a new policy.
2. our company has instituted a new policy.
I used "issue" in my business letter submission, and my TA marked it as WC (word choice).
Thank you,
Aaron

I would use "institute" or "adopt". "Issue" sounds like what they did when they emailed everyone and told them about the new policy but that's not particularly important. What's important is that they decided on a new policy for the company and for that I would say:
Our company has adopted a new policy [on + subject of policy].
Our company has instituted a new policy [on + subject of policy].
