Could you clarify to me the meanig of the following words: migrate, emigrate and immigrate

(3) I just wanted to share this with you. It comes from A Treasury for Word Lovers by Morton S. Freeman (1983).
(a) Mr. Morton tells us that a person emigrates from; a person immigrates to.
(ii) His example: (I have changed the names of the countries)
An American emigrates from the United States and immigrates to Australia.
