grunging unit

Is the following "grunging unit" a machine? If so, what kind of machine is it?

It's OK. I still haven't had any joy with the requisition for the new grunging unit though---still, I should know by now not to expect too much. They're not really interested in investment for production...

Try a Google search for grunging and see if, along with whatever knowledge you have of the further background, you can figure it out. Looks like it might have something to do with fabric dying for clothes. Maybe that's what they call the process whereby bluejeans are made to look as if they are worn when, in fact, they are not.
