Hi
The parrot is said to improve the wit of all that live with it. It is certainly a fascinating creature and can be endlessly entertaining.
Does the word "wit" here means intelligence or sense of humour?
There's nothing more.
There's always something more.
This is a note for all posters:
The sentence didn't spontaneously create itself on my screen. You know where it came from. You extracted that sentence from its surroundings; you know its surroundings. You possibly know the author, or the original work in which it appeared. Perhaps you know whether it is intelligence or parrots that are in focus. If the sentence came out of thin air, or you dreamed it, you know that as well.
You may choose not to give further context; that's fine. You may have judged that the context in which you came upon the sentence is irrelevant; that's fine too. But it is false to say that a sentence can appear here without a context. It can't happen.
