In American use only:
- Regular broadcast television
- Free TV
In most countries other than the US, you have to pay to use a television. This is accomplished by the imposition of an annual tax on each household where a TV is operating.

(1) Here in my American city, most people pay for cable television because they are
able to watch more than a hundred channels!
(2) Those people who do not wish to pay for cable TV can still get about a dozen
free over-the-air stations.
In the UK, you have to have a TV licence, which pays for the BBC, but you must have the licence to watch anything, so even free channels aren't free.
