    Default brought to light

Many of them will vanish without their names being brought to light.

    Hi,

Does the underlined phrase scan well for natives?
I am sensing it might sound a bit wordy but I don't know for sure.

Would there be a better way to phrase it?

    Thanks

I haven't tried to scan it , but how about "........being revealed".

Did these people do something bad or illegal? Cause that is the connotation when something is "brought to light" (i.e. that it is something hidden on purpose).

    Actually, it's the very opposite.

    Thanks for pointing that out.

Had I not known that, I could've made a fool of myself with an expression which totally contradicted my intention.

As to the original sentence, I was referring (sympathetically) to people whose names will be forgotten all too soon after they die.

I guess "brought to light" doesn't stand a chance in this case.

Many of them will vanish, [sadly] without their names ever being known.
