Me Myself, You Yourself

I have noticed a significant rise in the use of the words 'Myself' and 'Yourself' when a simple 'Me' and 'You' would suffice. I find this recent practise extremely irritating and since my boss pointed it out to myself :mad: I am noticing it more and more. Is anyone else familiar with this practise and does anyone know where it has come from.

It is very common in BE. A lot of people seem to do it to make their language sounds more formal, like those who use 'between you and I'.

I know what you mean, and it is annoying. People have been using myself to replace both me and I. Some people seem to have decided that me is simply incorrect. And they say things like, "Bob and myself went to the game together." :(

:D Mike and I are going to the store.

Mike and myself are going to the store.

Hi! I am new in this forum. I have found this web by chance and it is quite interesting. Since I am not English-speaking native, I would make a lot of mistakes so I urge you to correct all of them 8)

That's exactly what happens to me, I guess you have to use "me" when it is an object and "I" when it is a subject, isn't it?
