Do these below equally sound OK?

I suggested his going to the place I mentioned before.

Neither of them hits the spot for me. I would use I suggested (that) he should go/he went to the place...

In other words, aside from practicality, they are both grammatically fine?

    Nobody said that.

In my opinion, the first is possible, the second dubious. Neither is as natural as Tdol's suggested versions.

Taka, try to find out more about Subject Pronouns, Object Pronouns, Possessive Pronouns, Demonstrative Pronouns and possessive adjectives.

I suggested his going to the place I mentioned before.

That will not help much in this case. If we are going to use an -ing form, the most natural sentence in BrE has no pronoun at all: I suggested going ... . There is also no clear answer as to whether, when we do use a possessive before an -ing form, it should be my/your/him/etc or me/you/his/ etc.

The dictionary I have says 'suggest one's doing' is possible, so I just wondered if 'suggest one(not possessive but objective case) doing' was also possible as in 'Would you mind my/me smoking?'
