What is the difference between the two sentences? ''Burned to death or death by burning'' Do these two sentences carry same meaning?

Re: What is the difference between the two sentences? They are not sentences, and they do not mean the same thing.
The victim was burned to death in the explosion. (cause of death)
The judge sentenced the guilty man to death by burning. (method of death)
