Dear all,
I'm looking for the American word for indicate (v.) to show that your vehicle is going to change direction by using lights.
Can anyone help please?
Thanks

The blinking light on your auto that indicates your intention to turn is generically called a "turn signal" in AmE. Yes, there are Americans who refer to those lights as "blinkers" or other names, but if a police officer gives you a ticket for not properly indicating your turn the citation will read "failure to use turn signal" or "improper use of turn signal".
Interesting reply but one question : what's the specific verb? The OP referred to "indicate" rather than "indicator". Would you actually say that the verb is "to signal [that you are making a turn" where in BrE we just say "to indicate"?
I agree that "signal" would be the verb. But if someone suddenly slows down in front of me, then executes a turn, I'm liable to exclaim "Use a turn signal!" rather than "Signal!"
