There is a big parachute scrunching in a small bag for easy stowage. Tom and Jan are trying to swing the parachute to recover its size and shape because it's badly wrinkled.
1) . Shall I say,
"Tom, please swing the parachute."
Is swing the proper verb to describe the action?

2) "....... it's badly wrinkled"
Is wrinkled the proper word to describe the condition of the parachute.

2) maybe "crumpled"?
I'd shake rather than swing the bag/parachute.

Context is always important; labelling is rarely important.
